Cricket is treated like a religion in the sub-continent where fans have extreme reactions to victory and defeat. In one such extreme reaction to a demoralising loss against India in their opening game of the Champions Trophy, a fan has put Wahab Riaz for sale on Ebay. The user is based in Australia as the website suggests.
The Pakistani pacer continues to have good pace and on his day trouble the best of the world batsmen. However, he has not been a consistent performer. The same traits were visible during the India-Pakistan clash on June 4 as he dished out some bouncers but leaked 87 runs to become the most expensive bowler (in a match) in the history of Champions Trophy.
An eBay user in Australia has now put Wahab on sale on the online shopping website. He has described the item conditions as “used” and further wrote that the item has “some wear and tear” and is “hairy”. The reason for ‘selling’ him is mentioned as “I don’t need him anymore”.
The website has taken down Riaz from the ‘sale’ list. But while on sale, the Pakistani pacer did receive over 50 bids, though one user bid as much as 600 Australian dollars.
Well, Pakistani fans should rather be proud of their team’s comeback, such callous things disgrace not only the team’s spirit but the spirit of cricket, too
