Superheroes in 2016: Here’s What Hollywood Has in Store

2015 is just for a few more hours and we are excited to welcome the New Year- 2016.

 

Last year was brilliant in terms of movies. It gave some memorable flicks like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Furious 7, Avengers: Age of Ultron etc and it seems like 2016 has a few more bangs in its bag as well. After a year almost without superheroes, finally Hollywood is bringing eight awesome superhero flicks in 2016.

 

To keep you prepared for the upcoming releases, we have made a list of all eight superhero movies of next year with their official trailers as well as release dates. So, just have a look at them and note down them in your to-do list of 2016.

 

1. Deadpool  (expected release- 12 Feb 16 )

The superhero flood will start from February with Deadpool, our notorious and mischievous superhero which had been in a few scenes of X-men as well as some other superhero comics till now. This is the first movie featuring Deadpool as the lead character and its trailer seems promising and ass-kicking. The movies features the story of Wade Wilson who is subjected to a special experiment in efforts to cure his cancer. However, the experiment leaves him with superhuman capabilities and a deformed face. Armed with his new identity, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

 

 

 

2. Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice (expected release- 25 Mar 16 )

Directed by Zack Synder, Batman versus Superman will unveil in March end expanding the DC’s extended universe a bit more. This is the second DC movie showing multiple superheroes together and will be the first theatrical film to feature live-action portrayals of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash. In this movie, Batman reaches to Metropolis from Gotham to combat Superman following the events shown in the movie Man Of Steel, while another threat endangers the humankind.

 

 

 

3. Captain America 3: Civil War (expected release- 6 May 16 )

Based on the 2006’s comic book series Civil Wars by Marvel, this movie’s poster features the tagline “Divided We Fall”. The story of movie revolves around Avengers who divide into two factions, one led by Captain America and the other led by Iron Man, when the extensive collateral damage done by Avengers prompts the authorities to pass a superhuman activity regulating law. This sequel of the Marvel’s Captain America franchise will release in the 5th month of 2016 and up to an extent is the Marvel’s answer to DC’s Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice.

 

 

 

 

4. X-Men: Apocalypse (expected release- 27 May 16 )

The sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-men: Apocalypse is going to release after three weeks of Captain America: Civil War. The plot is about Apocalypse, the mutant shown in the previous X-Men flick who is awakened after a thousand years and gets disillusioned by the world around him. He decides to destroy the humanity and create a new world order. However, Raven and professor X stands up against him and decide to lead X-men to stop Apocalypse. The movie will be released in 2D as well as 3D.

 

 

 

5. TMNT2 (expected release- 03 June 16 )

This sequel of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will release in the end of the first half of 2016. It is the story of four Ninja Turtles as shown in the TMNT prequel who come into conflict of the Shredder, their enemy who has hired the T.C.R.I. scientist Dr. Baxster Stockman with the association of the Foot Clan to form mutants of his own. This mutants in form of Bebop and Rocksteady will be commanded by him to invade the New York city and hence to prevent the catastrophe, the Turtles and their vigilante human friends come together to fight them.

 

 

 

6. Suicide Squad (expected release- 05 August 16 )

The third installment of DC’s extended universe, Suicide Squad is based on DC Comics antihero team. After appearing in Justice League Unlimited, Batman: Assault on Arkham and Arrow, this will be the first theatrical launch of the Suicide Squad which features defamed villains from different DC superhero movies including Joker and Deadshot. The Suicide Squad is a team of supervillains who are imprisoned by government and undertakes high-risk official missions in exchange for their amnesty. Their sentences will be reduced for each mission they succeed in, but if they fail to accomplish the mission, they will die.

 

 

 

7. Gambit (expected release- 07 Oct 16 )

Gambit is the X-Men character known for his ability to manipulate the kinetic energy and charge the playing cards with it making them explosive projectiles. He is a genius mind previously clashed with X-Men. This X-Men franchise movie is going to release in the first week of October 2016 and has not anything about its plot specified publicly yet.

 

 

 

& 8. Doctor Strange (expected release- 05 August 16 ) 

Another popular character of Marvel Comics Doctor Strange is going to launch theatrically for the first time in the third quarter of 2016. Doctor Strange is story of a Doctor Stephen, world’s top neurosurgeon who is unlikable and egoistic by nature. After his major car accident, he loses the control over his hands and this leaves him on the quest of some miracle cure. So, isn’t the coming year exciting for us, the superhero lovers? Eight movies in single years is like a buffet of entertainment and we can’t hold ourselves from waiting desperately for these movies.
